Providence Health & Services Sr. Product Owner II - Marketing Technology in Seattle, Washington
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Sr. Product Owner II - Marketing Technology to our location in Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Sr. Product Owner II - Marketing Technology who will help manage our suite of marketing technology tools and services. In this role, you will be the product owner for various homegrown and third-party platforms and tools we use to solve our current and future marketing needs.
The Marketing Platforms Team is responsible for architecting, enhancing, and maintaining all platforms (third-party and in-house) that support the implied technical needs of marketing strategy and digital experience. The Marketing Platforms Team is apart of the Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence. The Product Owner works alongside marketing engineers and architects, as well as our agile scrummaster to manage the back log in support of our marketing technology stack used for orchestrating, optimizing, and measuring all marketing activity. Working as part of the Marketing Platforms team the Product Owner must have a broad range of skills; including the ability to manage the technology life cycle, understand the capabilities of a variety of different software and cloud based solutions, and translate the needs of the business into technical features and stories from discovery and intake through to implementation and technical operations.
You will be an ambassador for the Providence marketing technology portfolio, answering questions about MarTech capabilities, gathering and fleshing out stakeholder requirements, identifying and documenting problems to be solved, making recommendations, and transforming business needs into epics and features for agile development. From day one you'll need to effectively balance day-to-day business needs with strategic initiatives, provide product leadership, educate end users, and manage the execution and delivery of products for the marketing function.
The person in this role will proactively develop a deep understanding of business goals, marketing needs, and technological capabilities to help us deliver on the vision for our marketing technology and drive a roadmap that enables our marketing teams to meet or exceed their goals.

You will play a meaningful and visible role, reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing Platforms in helping define priorities and streamline the execution of program priorities while helping the technical team meet its delivery commitments. You will implement and run rigorous product management practices and pave the way for continue MarTech maturation within an industry that is ripe with opportunity and where your contributions will make an impact on human lives.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Serves as an owner for the respective technology stacks and ensures appropriate technology is implemented in alignment with business needs. Drives towards business goals by solving problems, undersatnding tradeoffs, and making recommendations.
Translates business needs into appropriate uses of technology. Knows what is possible, what is efficient, what is inefficient, and what requires a product enhancement.
Works closely with the internal technical team both to service sakeholder needs as well as track product enhancements. Works with others in the product ownership function to drive change management and proper end-user adoption.
Understands the potential use of new technologies in their area as driven by Providence initiatives, vendor capabilities, or industry best practices and trends, and informs and educates peers as necessary. Understands the cost/benefit of creating technical debt. Works to sustainably drive Marketing Technology capability and maturity; minimizes long term risk, technical chaos, and data bifurcation while simultaneously maximizing scalability, operational sustainability, and usability.
Adds structure to Marketing Technology initiatives through efficient use of meetings, communications, and documentation. Creates new documentation where none exists.
Develops scope and define backlog items that guide the software development team. Documents specific use cases, epics, and features for marketing technology. Serves as voice of customer to the engineering team.
Ensures that all use cases enable and sustain identity resolution across the rest of the technology stack including web, mobile, and other interaction channels. Safeguards digital customer 360 and contact consolidation.
Drives consumer marketing solutions working in partnership with our Marketing Consumer Data team to recommend industry standards and best practices, across cloud, on-premise, or hybrid architectures.
Partners across teams in Marketing and Digital to adopt best practices and align technologies with business use cases.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Mathematics or Computer Science -OR- equivalent education/experience.
7 years proven track record in leading deployment, maintenance, and operation of Marketing Technologies (Marketing Automation, CRM, Marketing Analytics, Direct Marketing, Digital Advertising, CDP).
6 years experience in delivering solutions through the software development lifecycle in at least one of the following areas: DMPs, DSPs, SSPs, Google Marketing Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Eloqua, or others.
5 years experience in gathering requirements, documenting various components of marketing technical systems, and working with a technical team to flesh out solutions.
4 years experience managing enterprise technical projects as a program manager or product owner.
2 years experience managing an agile technology backlog.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Marketing, Business, Mathematics or Computer Science -OR- equivalent education/experience.
