Providence Health & Services Senior Software Engineer in Seattle, Washington
The Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence Health & Services is a small but mighty product development and incubation team that is building next-gen tools that give patients convenient and easy access to healthcare virtually anywhere, anytime.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to report to the Senior Director of Engineering and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels in Providence Strategic and Management Services (PSMS), as well as with other Providence Health & Services staff, vendors, agents, and others.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
You are able to work collaboratively and independently but ask for general guidance on new projects or unfamiliar areas.
You create functional and technical designs/test designs and test content, and are at times the lead engineer.
You work on multiple features of moderate complexity. You demonstrate good judgment and use your expertise in selecting methods and techniques for developing solutions.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s in one of the following disciplines Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Engineering.
5-6 years of typical combined system architecture experience across multiple OSes, languages and frameworks or typical experience. Meet either of the following of 4 years’ experience working with automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, XebiaLabs AND 4 years’ experience supporting Amazon Web Services with tools such as CloudFormation, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Elastic Load Balancing, Beanstalk, EC2, Route 53, etc.
5 years’ programming experience with technologies such as python, powershell, php, java, C , SQL.
Ideal candidate must pass technical coding test and as well as in-person technical interviews that demonstrate the ability to design and development using one of the following objected oriented languages: C , C# and Java.
5-6 years of relevant industry experience shipping enterprise software using SOA and have delivered solutions end to end.
You are very competent with the various tools, processes, test methodologies and languages used to accomplish your job.
You have deep experience in some areas of the technology, and you work on problems of diverse scope. You have in-depth competency in the primary technology of your solution stack.
You network with senior individuals within Providence/DIG, and/or with external individuals who are your peers.
You understand the customer’s needs, and you can propose business solutions.
You identify opportunities to increase efficiency and simplify solutions.
You share your own experience and expertise with others.
You can complete single engineer projects in familiar or unfamiliar systems with little to no supervision. You substantially help improve software design and implementation in the course of completing project work.
You are responsible for code quality: writing robust, maintainable and efficient code before submitting for review.
You also provide effective guidance to other engineers and demonstrate leadership on the team by removing obstacles to make other engineers more effective.
You proactively identify, escalate and help to resolve issues with systems and work with Product team to review product specs and define timelines.
You respects engineering process and helps others to do the same.
You sustain exceptional performance across multiple recent review periods
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
