The Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence Health & Services is a small but mighty product development and incubation team that is building next-gen tools that give patients convenient and easy access to healthcare virtually anywhere, anytime.
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Senior Software Engineer who enjoys collaborating with a small but mighty team of engineers, designers, and product visionaries. We build responsive web applications that enable patients to find care, schedule appointments, and save time by pre-registering their information. As a senior engineer, you’ll play a key role in architecting new solutions, advising leadership on technical strategy, and mentoring rising stars. You are data driven, like to experiment, and you have a high-quality bar.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Write end to end software solutions using the latest SPA frameworks and Node.js backend services. Produce bullet-proof code that is robust, efficient, and maintainable.
Work daily in an Agile environment with engineers from other teams, product managers, designers, and user research to recommend solutions, define timelines, and solve customer problems. You have a demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it.
Practice test-driven development, ensuring your code is covered by unit and integration tests, and continually improving the testability of our products.
Configure CI/CD systems to automatically build and deploy your solutions to cloud native infrastructure such as Kubernetes.
Ramp up on new techniques and best practices for web development, and advocate improvements with the team.
Mentor junior developers through code and design reviews.
Build software with a proactive operations mindset to simplify alerting and debugging of customer issues using tools like Splunk. Participate in an on-call support rotation.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent educ/experience.
At least 6 years related experience with cloud services platforms such as AWS, including relational and non-relational databases.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Ability to analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to elicit, analyze and communicate business requirements from multiple customers across disparate functions.
Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure.
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to organize workload to ensure that timeframes are met and the work is successfully completed within deadlines.
Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent educ/experience.
At least 2 years configuring continuous integration and deployment systems using Docker containers on Kubernetes.
